Hospices have two new quality measures to begin collecting data for on April 1, 2017 - Hospice Visits When Death is Imminent Measure Pair and the Hospice and Palliative Care Composite Process Measure. The HIS tool has been updated to reflect the new reporting requirements and hospices will begin using the HIS version 2.00.0 with admissions and discharges after April 1. A Hospice Compare website and public reporting is on schedule for implementation in summer 2017. To utilize standardized tools most successfully, it is important to understand the instructions for each component of the HIS and the measure definitions. Faculty: Katie Wehri, BSBA, CHC, CHPC, is the hospice specialist with Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice, has an extensive background in regulatory, licensing/certification and accreditation standards interpretation and implementation. Certified in healthcare compliance (CHC) and healthcare privacy compliance (CHPC) through the Health Care Compliance Association, she also works in hospice operations with the National Association for Home Care & Hospice. Katie has been consulting nationally in these areas since 2009.Amy Hoyda, RN, BSN, MBA, CHPN, is the Director of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement/Education at Bridge Home Health & Hospice in Findlay, OH. Her career positions include post-acute care setting in various roles. She has experience to apply healthcare quality measure management and lean process improvement methodologies in the post-acute care setting with a special focus on educating about quality integration and lean application to both management and front line staff.
