Part 6 Description:
Health care fraud and abuse continues to be a major focus of the federal government, as demonstrated by the recent enforcement actions.  This presentation will discuss some of the common pitfalls that agencies, may not be aware, could be considered health care fraud.  These include common conduct issues, such as inducement of beneficiaries and/or referral sources, improper ownership structures, improper compensation arrangements, services that could be scrutinized and whistleblower concerns.  The presentation will also include a review of civil and criminal penalties and sanctions that may be imposed on agencies found out of compliance, along with practical methods that can be implemented to stay within compliance.
