New Rules Effective January 2019 from the Board of Physical Therapy Examiners; New Fingerprint Requirements for PTs and OTs

Dear Members,

The Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners has published new Rules effective January 2019. As required by the Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act, the PT Board adopts rules to govern the practice of physical therapy in the State. Rules are adopted, changed and repealed in response to developments in physical therapy practice, administrative changes, or legislative mandates. The rules are established as minimum standards, to ensure that the public is adequately protected.

In addition, the Board has announced a new requirement that physical and occupational therapists and therapy assistants must submit their fingerprints for state and national criminal history background checks for both new license applications and license renewals effective January 1, 2019, or later. Please review the notice for details and instructions on this process.

Thank you!
