Employers: You May Be Required to Post OSHA's Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses

Dear Members,

Please be advised that, as employers, you may be required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to post a summary of work-related illnesses and injuries in a location viewable by the public for calendar year 2018 from February 1, 2019 until April 30, 2019.

Home health care services (NAICS code 6216) are on the list of industries who must report work-related illnesses and injuries to OSHA, and post a summary of these via the 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses), unless they meet the requirement for an exemption based on small size (10 or fewer employees in the entire company).  Members are encourage to work with their in-house legal counsel to determine application to this reporting requirement.

Home health care services - Code 6216 is defined in the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) as: This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing services in the home, along with a range of the following: personal care services; homemaker and companion services; physical therapy; and vocational therapy; dietary and nutritional services; speech therapy; audiology; and high-tech care, such as intravenous therapy.
