"Happy New Year, my friends and colleagues! As I reflect on how wonderful 2018 has been, I can’t help but have eager anticipation for an amazing 2019. How can one know if 2019 will be amazing, you might ask? Well, this year brings an incredible milestone: TAHC&H’s 50th anniversary!
As President of our Association, it is truly an honor to celebrate 50 years with such an outstanding group of people, who make up this Association. Both staff and members, current and past, have made our Association what it is today. And what better place to celebrate this milestone than the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, in Grapevine, TX, August 28-29.
Since its inception, TAHC&H has been working with both State and Federal lawmakers, along with Homecare regulators, to ensure the consumer has access to the best, most cost- effective care available. They have been educating the industry and influencing policy from day one. TAHC&H has weathered the storms over the years, and has bounced back with stronger relationships, and positioned itself as a national leader in advancing homecare. Advocating from Austin to D. C., they are relentless in their pursuit for quality homecare.
The brand and reputation our Association has built over the last 50 years will open doors and opportunities for you as a member. Doors that would otherwise remain closed, and opportunities that may have gone missed. The integrity and excellence TAHC&H is known for sets you apart among the crowd. Lawmakers and policy makers will view you in a different light because of what has been forged over the last 50 years.
TAHC&H has evolved through 50 years of change because we are a group of individuals who come together, knowing there is strength in numbers, and have chosen to be in an industry that brings dignity and honor to people who may no longer be able to contribute to society like they once did, but deserve to remain at home in comfort.
One of the most valuable benefits I have experienced as a member of TAHC&H is not the fact that I have easier access to Legislators, or that I can actually contribute to the rule making & policy development for our industry, or that I get the best, most up to date education, or even the fact that I can get in front of top leadership at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, or even the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The most valuable benefit to me is when I have problem with a Payor, or an issue with billing, or need immediate clarification of policy or rule during a survey, I have access to TAHC&H staff who can provide solutions, or can get the right people to solve issues immediately. I have utilized this benefit more times than I care to share, in order to protect the viability of my company and keep me moving in the right direction. The success of my company is directly related to my membership with this Association. In an everchanging industry, we need the support of an Association, constructed through 50 years of integrity, leadership, excellence, trust, and innovation. As members of TAHC&H, we will not only survive, but thrive in an industry that is valued by so many."
-Jon Scepanski, TAHCH President.
