HHS Public Hearing Update on Therapy Rate Changes

By Marissa Machado posted May 26,2017 10:43 AM

On Wednesday, the Health and Human Services Commission held a public hearing on proposed Medicaid payment rates for the physical, occupational and speech therapy provided by Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities/Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (CORF/ORF), Home Health Agencies (HHA) and independent therapists.

This proposed adjustment meets the requirements of House Bill 1 of the 84th Texas Legislature. However, HHSC is closely monitoring the budget decisions being considered this session and will make adjustments to the proposed rates through the public hearing process to align with future appropriations.

The written comment period regarding the proposed payment rate adjustments has been extended and will be accepted until 5 p.m. on May 31, 2017. You can email your comments to RADAcuteCare@hhsc.state.tx.us. HHSC will consider all oral and written comments prior to final rate approval.

HHSC is expected to hold another rate hearing in mid-July and public testimony may be given during that hearing as well. When the hearing’s date is confirmed, HHSC will post a notice on its website’s meetings and events page https://hhs.texas.gov/about-hhs/communications-events/meetings-events
