By Marissa Machado posted Aug 24,2017 11:46 AM

The National Hurricane Center is predicting that Tropical Storm Harvey is likely to become a hurricane that will approach the Texas coast on Friday, August 25. This storm may produce hurricane force winds and rain, storm surge flooding, as well as prolonged heavy rainfall and flooding across parts of Texas into next week.

The Health and Human Services website provides information and resources related this storm. Please bookmark this link and check back frequently for updates: https://apps.hhs.texas.gov/hurricane/bulletin.cfm?id=23

Providers in the impacted areas should be ready to implement their emergency preparedness plans. If your facility is impacted by severe weather such as wind or flooding, please remember to contact your local DADS Regulatory Services Regional Office (RO). Home and Community-based Services and Texas Home Living providers that are impacted should contact Will Medina at william.medina@hhsc.state.tx.us.

In addition to contacting the RO, all requests to exceed licensed capacity due to an emergency must be approved by the director of survey operations. If your facility is projected to exceed its licensed capacity because it is accepting residents who have been evacuated from another facility, please email Linda Lothringer at linda.lothringer@hhsc.state.tx.us.

If you have any questions, please contact your RO or DADS Regulatory Services, Policy Rules and Curriculum Section at 512-438-3161.
