This bill (H.R. 1828/S. 980) will help ensure more rural Texans have access to quality hospice care by allowing a patient’s primary care physician from rural health clinics or federally qualified health centers to serve as the chosen attending physician as the patient goes to hospice care. A technicality in current law prevents patients who receive primary care at these clinics from continuing with their physician if they want hospice care.
