Dear Members,
The DSHS Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies (TCNWS) has extended its deadline for responses to their 2018 survey on workplace violence prevention policies and strategies to January 15, 2019.
House Bill 2696 (H.B. 2696), 84th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2015, added Section 105.009 to the Health and Safety Code to allow the TCNWS to conduct research on violence against nurses in hospitals, freestanding emergency medical care facilities (FEC), nursing facilities, and home health agencies (HHAs). Results from the 2016 study are available here.
The purpose of this survey is to assess practices and strategies used by employers to prevent workplace violence against nurses. The information in this survey will serve as a guide for the development of policy recommendations that will be instrumental in shaping legislation geared toward preventing workplace violence against nurses in Texas.
The current survey was distributed by email to hospitals, long term care facilities, freestanding emergency centers, and home health agencies with more than 1,000 visits per year. If you have not yet completed the survey for your facility, please do so by January 15, 2019.
